Mr. Warren
Welcome to the Principal’s corner. I am Scott Warren, Principal of both Hadley and Murphy Elementary. I will attempt to keep this page current with the latest School news. top We are considered one educational unit housed on two campuses. Hadley houses kindergarten through second grades while Murphy has one section of second grade through sixth grades. We have three sections at each grade level. top Murphy Parking Lot: Our new lot was completed this past summer. The East lot is for busses and staff parking only. The West lot is parent parking and student pick-up and drop-off. Please yield to busses when they are leaving the bus loop. top Fall Dress: Please dress your children appropriately for the conditions. As the temperatures warm up consult the student handbook for appropriate dress. top Bullying: Wildcat
Character Contract Explained. There are four simple guidelines and
expectations for students to follow. 2. No Put Downs Students have the right to learn in a bully free/No Put Down environment by accepting the: Responsibility not to bully and/or harass others. Responsibility to express yourself in a constructive, non-threatening manner. Responsibility to make amends when you offend others.
3. Help Others Students at Hadley-Murphy have the right to feel comfortable and included at school by accepting the: Responsibility to be kind, considerate, and helpful. Responsibility to stand up to others who are being unkind. Responsibility to bring to adult attention if you can’t handle the situation on your own.
4. Do your Best: Students at Hadley-Murphy have the right to learn in a distraction free classroom by accepting the: Responsibility to bring materials to class – your completed homework, your book, and a pencil. Responsibility to be a cooperative learner in the classroom by showing respect for others. Responsibility to respect the rights of others by monitoring your own classroom behavior. top Water: In January 2006 the State of Michigan will be lowering the acceptable levels of arsenic from 50 parts per billion to 10 parts per billion. Both Hadley and Murphy schools levels are above the 10 parts per billion. We attempted to drill a deeper well at Murphy in hopes to eliminate this problem. Our results came back very near the 10 parts per billion mark. We will continue to utilize the State approved bottled water program until we completely resolve this issue. top Meijer Community Rewards: Please sign up!! Currently the PTC receives between $250 and $500 dollars a month from parents and staff using their Community Rewards cards at Meijer. These funds go to the PTC who utilize them for your children. This program has the ability to earn much of the PTC's annual budget if all get involved. We could then look at eliminating or downsizing fundraisers. You can sign up a couple different ways. Going online seems to be the easiest. Go to http://www.meijer.com/rewards/ to apply. The code for Hadley/Murphy is 547996. You can also pick up a form located in the school entrances and drop them off in the boxes in the lobbies. top Annual Education Report 2006: Click on the link below to view. http://www.lapeerschools.org/Documents/aer/05-06_Hadley-Murphy.pdf top
We are always in need of caring people willing to give of their time. Hadley/Murphy has many functions and opportunities to volunteer. Our Parent Teacher Committee (PTC) sponsors several activities and functions that require volunteers. If you are willing to give them assistance please email the PTC at hadleymurphyptc@hotmail.com. In addition to PTC activities, teachers are often in need of assistance. Please feel free to contact the main office or the individual teacher if you are interested. You may also sign up online. Click here to access the online page. For the protection of our children we require all volunteers to fill out a volunteer form and authorize a criminal records check. top If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me by Email: swarren@lapeerschools.org or phone: 810.678.2201 Ext. 228 top
